G-FORS shares expectations before the start of the French Rallycross Championship after the unveiling of the Clio R.S. RX
G-FORS, the new rallycross team collaboratively founded by Guerlain Chicherit and FORS PERFORMANCE’s Stéphane Orré, which unveiled the final, race-ready livery of the Clio 4 RS RX a few days ago, looks expectantly ahead to the opening of the 2018 French Rallycross Championship season on 5th May.
Guerlain Chicherit and Philippe Maloigne will race the new generation Clio 4 R.S. RX, developed by FORS PERFORMANCE, at Round 1 at Abbeville Baie de Somme, in the north of France. For the team and drivers, this will be the very first opportunity to measure the potential of the cars compared to their French competitors in race conditions, going head to head on the new circuit of Abbeville, which was added to the French Rallycross Championship calendar this year.
Guerlain Chicherit, G-Fors founder and driver, said: ““My aim this year is to win the French Championship. I learned all the circuits last year, so now I feel I need to really push for the best result possible in the Championship. We will give all we can in Abbeville – the new Clio R.S. RX was very well developed so I have confidence in its capabilities. However, there are 3 Clio at the start with Philippe Maloigne and Fabien Chanoine driving Clios too, so the level of competition will be high. I don’t expect it will be an easy task because it’s an extremely strong Championship with a lot of drivers but I need to challenge and push myself to continue development. This is a very good opportunity for me to compete strongly in the French Championship, and Ihope be on the top step at the end of the season.”
Philippe Maloigne, G-Fors driver, added: « I’m really looking forward to racing again after a promising off-season with the new Clio G-Fors. Since I wasn’t quite ready to participate as expected in World Rallycross round in Portugal, we focussed on 2 days of testing instead, where I began to understand this new car that looks to be very powerful.
The 2018 French Championship promises to be more competitive than ever before, to perform well will require total commitment, but I like great challenges and, above all, to succeed. »
Atte Varsta, G-Fors Team Manager, commented: “French Championship is this year extremely competitive. To me it’s the most competitive national rallycross championship in the world. About 30 Supercar entries with numerous of national and international top level drivers makes it hard to win this year. In Guerlain and Philippe we have experienced and fast driver pair for G-Fors. Both are proven winners and with new Renault Clio R.S. RX Supercar we are ready to fight for the championship.
It will not be easy, but the performance what the new car showed us in Euro RX Barcelona was very encouraging and we have all the reasons to anticipate succesfull season in French Championship.”
